Why is it so hard to find a man with goals, and who is looking for more than a “hook-up”?

I’ll give you an example.  I recently met a man on Fulton Street in Manhattan.  I had just returned from a voice over audition (yeah I do lots of things) and was feeling pretty excited.

As I was walking, this good looking man passed me and looked back. He kept on looking back and I pretended I hadn’t noticed him.  I was in no mood for idle chatter, you see.

So then he gathered enough courage to approach me and said, “You are exactly the kind of woman I’ve been looking for.  My curiosity piqued, I asked him in what way?

His answer was….interesting.   Ready?

“You have the type of body that prevents a man from cheating.”

Need I say, he was immediately crossed off my potentials list?  He didn’t know it yet, but he was dead to me.

He then rattled off all the things he can do for me, such as “nice bubble baths, cruises, etc.

I smiled at him and told him I would keep his qualities in mind and kept on walking.

To my male subscribers, please do not ever tell a woman that something about her will keep you from straying.  It’s not a compliment.

I haven’t worn lipstick in a while. I wear mostly lipgloss.

There was a time I wore my burgundy lipstick every day. Men love me in lipstick because I have full lips. However, I find that lipstick can be a little distracting especially in the workplace.

So I gave lipstick a break. Until today.

Today, I put on some lipstick and decided I was going to wear it again. Most of the women in my neighborhood shun lipstick. Why can’t I be different?

When I mentioned my new lipstick campaign to my girlfriend, she told me that lipstick was no longer in style.

Since when was lipstick not chiq?

My ex-boyfriend hated lipstick. He implied that lipstick made me look less refined.
I say it’s time women began wearing lipstick again.

Not the dull natural ones, but nice, bright ones.

How do you men feel about lipstick? 

I feel so weird. I mean, I didn’t think he was THE ONE. That’s why I broke up with him. Yet, why do I feel a bit rejected? Why couldn’t he have wanted to marry me?

Isn’t it interesting how simple thing like an ex getting married can throw us off kilter? I’m certainly feeling a bit….unbalanced. .

Talk about wedding bells cacophany.

My ex and I dated twice — three years apart. Each time, the relationship lasted for 3 months. My only comfort is that I didn’t waste any time on the relationship.

One dating practice I’ve watched grow with interest is the number of guys who offer to cook dinner at their places on date one. First of all, when did men learn how to cook? Granted, the dinner usually consists of some sort of pasta, which is not that difficult. The man offering to cook usually has some flavor of metrosexual and dresses well. The offer is tempting. How many of us have men to cook food for us while we sip on a glass of wine? Sounds good, doesn’t it.

When a man offers a dinner at his place as a first date, alarms should be going off in your head. Enough alarms to deafen you.

When you hear “cook a nice dinner”, your brain should automatically translate that statement into “have some good sex.”There is no reason you should be going to a man’s house on a first date except to have sex. Unless that is what you want, say no to dinner at his place.

So what do you say when a man asks you to have dinner at his house? Tell him you’d prefer to meet him someplace else for dinner until you get to know him a little better.  Simple.

Gals and guys, don’t neglect your teeth. Use whatever teeth whitening method you can afford to use.

I had to come to terms with the fact that I have to either accept him or reject him. He will never be a smooth Casanova. He accepts me as I am with all my flaws and I have to accept him.

What I want is a good human being with a good heart, goals and ambitions and who treats me well. As long as he continues to provide that for me, I will work with him.

My friends and I constantly debate this point. Should we call our boyfriends? Time and time again, the answer is no. I am very strict about this.

I’ve learned from experience and by reading the rules that it’s sometimes better when we don’t call. Let him call. I’ll tell you why.

When you don’t call he:
 looks forward to your call

is not busy watching football, basketball or some other mess.

 never gets annoyed that you call him too much

never thinks of you as needy

 sees you as super busy.

And Most Importantly…..(Drum Roll)

He sees you as the prize. 

Yes, you are that elusive woman that all men desire and he gets to be with YOU.Now I know sometimes we just want to call and tell him we’ve been thinking about him.

Save that for when you see him.
